Disaster Overview : In December 2015, a Monkey Pox outbreak was identified in the Central African Republic (CAR), specifically affecting the Mbomou Province. The outbreak was detected when two children were admitted to a health center with unidentified rashes. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of Monkey Pox, leading the Minister of Health to declare an outbreak on 29 December 2015. Efforts led by WHO, UNICEF, MSF, and local health authorities have been initiated to control the outbreak through disease surveillance, contact tracing, and community communication activities.
