Disaster Overview : Since August 2016, the Solomon Islands and surrounding regions have experienced a significant dengue outbreak. The outbreak was officially declared on 8 October 2016 and expanded to other provinces later in the month. By mid-December 2016, cases had surged to over 6,000, and by April 2017, more than 12,000 cases had been reported. Vanuatu was also notably affected. The outbreak prompted emergency responses and significant public health efforts to control the spread of the disease and manage hospitalizations.
