Disaster Overview : A cholera outbreak first reported in October 2023 in Zambia has significantly worsened. The disease initially emerged in peri-urban areas of Lusaka Province but has spread to all ten provinces of the country. With over 21,000 reported cases and 704 deaths as of March 2024, the outbreak has reached alarming levels, particularly affecting children under five years old. Government response is being coordinated by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) under the office of the Vice President.
