Disaster Overview : In March 2014, Fiji's Ministry of Health confirmed a significant dengue outbreak that began in November 2013. By mid-March, the outbreak had resulted in 11 confirmed deaths and over 10,000 suspected cases. The situation intensified, and by April, suspected cases surged to over 20,000 with 12 confirmed deaths. By the end of May, the number of new cases steeply declined, bringing the total to 25,300 suspected cases since the outbreak began.
