Disaster Overview : Starting in December 2014, heavy seasonal rainfall triggered severe flooding across Southern Africa, significantly impacting countries including Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe. By mid-January 2015, over 135,000 people had been affected. Malawi experienced the highest recorded rainfall in 30 years, leading to extensive flooding.
