Disaster Overview : On 21 September 2009, Bhutan experienced a significant earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located in Mongar, affecting not only Bhutan but also parts of northeast India and Bangladesh. The earthquake led to substantial destruction, with 12 reported deaths and immense damage to buildings and infrastructure.
