Disaster Overview : Severe flooding began affecting Guyana in May 2021. By May 20, the floodwaters had impacted 15,000 people across Region Nine, leading to significant evacuations and infrastructural damage. Continued rainfall worsened the situation, impacting additional regions such as Regions Six and Ten. As of early June, over 6,000 people have been affected nationwide, with high tides, torrential rains, and overflowing rivers contributing to the disaster.
