Disaster Overview : In late October 2016, a cholera outbreak erupted in the southern Cape Coast district of Ghana. Within days, the number of reported cases surged from 36 to 117, with the total reaching 172 by early November. This rapid escalation highlighted the high transmission potential of the infection primarily affecting the peri-urban communities. A detailed assessment and a rapid response team were deployed to understand and tackle the factors contributing to the outbreak. By the end of 2016, nearly 596 cases were reported.
