Disaster Overview : In December 2018, a measles outbreak was confirmed in South Sudan, starting with five laboratory-confirmed cases in Abyei. Since then, the outbreak has expanded to multiple counties including Juba, Pibor, Gogriel West, Bor South, and Mayom, with over 311,000 children targeted for vaccination by May 2019. The Ministry of Health, supported by WHO, UNICEF, and IOM, has launched several reactive vaccination campaigns to contain the spread of the disease.
