Disaster Overview : On October 7, 1995, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale struck the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The epicenter was located approximately 170 km southeast of Padang and 16 km west of Sungaipenuh in the Jambi province. The quake resulted in the deaths of 84 people, with over 1,300 individuals injured. The tremor caused severe damage to buildings, impacting multiple districts including Airhangat, Danaukerinci, Gunungkerinci, Gunungraya, Sitinjaulaut, and Sungaipenuh.
