Disaster Overview : Sri Lanka is currently experiencing a severe dengue outbreak exacerbated by the intensifying rainfall from the Southeast monsoon. The Health departments have warned of the situation's potential to become critical, with 61,361 dengue cases reported as of August 2023. The highest numbers of cases have been recorded in districts such as Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara in the Western Province, and Batticaloa, Trincomalee in the Eastern Province, among others. The ongoing inclement weather conditions are expected to further worsen the spread of the disease.
