Disaster Overview : On September 20, 2022, the Uganda health authorities confirmed an outbreak of the Ebola Sudan strain in Mubende district. A 24-year-old male tested positive, triggering a fast response from the National Rapid Response team. Initial investigations connected the virus to six suspicious deaths earlier in the month. Currently, the outbreak has spread to three districts—Mubende, Kyegegwa, and Kassanda. As of late September, the outbreak has resulted in 36 cases, including 23 deaths, and 399 individuals listed as contacts.
