Disaster Overview : In late January 1987, a series of earthquakes impacted western Algeria, particularly in the areas of Wilaya de Tissemsilt, Daira de Bordj Bou Naama, and the village of Larbaa, approximately 200 km west of Algiers. The tremors, which ranged from 3.3 to 4.8 on the Richter scale, resulted in one death, seven injuries, and rendered 900 people homeless. Despite the significant human impact, no structural damage was reported.
