Disaster Overview : On the night of 6 July 2012, torrential rains led to severe flash floods in Russia's southern Krasnodar region. The disaster resulted in the deaths of 172 people and injuries to almost 4,000 others. Additionally, 3,000 people were evacuated and around 5,500 residents lost their property completely. This was the region's worst natural disaster in decades. Another significant flood occurred on 22 August 2012 in the village of Novomikhailovsky, where heavy rains caused by a cyclone led to the river Nechepsukho flooding, affecting 1,500 residents and damaging 600 houses.
