Disaster Overview : Since late March 2016, torrential rains and flash floods have caused significant displacement in Ethiopia, with over 236,890 people affected. The heavy belg rains, although delayed in onset, intensified the situation by both volume and geographic spread. The impact was exacerbated by a preceding 18-month drought that drastically weakened communities' coping mechanisms. The most affected regions include Somali, Oromia, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples (SNNP), Afar, Amhara, and Harari.
