Disaster Overview : In April 2024, Zimbabwe declared the 2023-2024 agriculture season a state of national disaster due to an unprecedented El Niño induced drought impacting more than 80% of the country. The drought has severely affected food and water security, leading the government to appeal for humanitarian aid. Estimated impacts include food insecurity for 6 million people, water insecurity for 2.6 million people, and significant disruptions to the education of 1.8 million learners.
