Disaster Overview : On February 14, 2011, Cyclone Bingiza struck Madagascar causing widespread destruction across several districts including Mananara, Mandritsara, Soalala, Vohipeno, Farafangana, and Vangaindrano. The cyclone brought heavy rains, flooding, and strong winds resulting in 14 fatalities, 8 missing, and 64 injuries. Approximately 80,000 people were affected by its devastating impact.
