Disaster Overview : During Colombia's first rainy season of 2014, starting in mid-March, the country experienced severe floods and landslides. By the end of May, over 41,000 people across 182 municipalities were affected, with the Centre (Caquetá), the Caribbean Coast (Magdalena), and the Pacific region (Chocó, Cauca) being the hardest hit areas. Throughout June and July, additional flooding impacted more than 20,000 people in Putumayo. The rainfall was forecasted to persist for an extended period.
