Disaster Overview : In early May 2024, Angolan health authorities reported a polio case in Chitato Municipality, Lunda Norte province. This marks the first human case after polio was initially detected in environmental samples in Luanda and Huambo provinces in February 2024. The outbreak is classified as a Grade 2 emergency due to the high risk of virus transmission, poor sanitation, and the possibility of cross-border spread to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
