Disaster Overview : In 2012, Uganda experienced two significant Ebola haemorrhagic fever outbreaks. The first outbreak in Kibaale District during July and August 2012 resulted in 17 deaths among 24 reported cases. The situation was declared under control by October 4th, 2012. However, a second outbreak emerged in November, primarily affecting the Luweero and Kampala districts. By the end of November, seven cases, including four deaths, were reported. Uganda's healthcare system was heavily strained by these successive outbreaks, but by January 16th, 2013, the Luweero district was declared Ebola-free.
