Disaster Overview : In January 2013, Zimbabwe experienced severe flooding due to heavy rains beginning on January 7th. The floods affected approximately 8,490 people across the country, with 4,615 needing humanitarian assistance, including emergency shelter and non-food items. Major agricultural lands, especially maize crops, were destroyed, disrupting food supply. Public services such as road transportation and education were also heavily impacted. The worst-hit areas were Matebeleland South, Matebeleland North, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Masvingo, and Midlands provinces.
