Disaster Overview : In late 2013, a polio outbreak in Cameroon marked the return of wild poliovirus type 1 for the first time since 2009. Initial cases were identified in October, with paralysis onset in multiple regions, indicating continued transmission. By early 2014, the virus had spread to Equatorial Guinea. This led to a series of extensive immunization campaigns across the affected countries to curb the outbreak.
