Disaster Overview : Tropical Storm Fung-Wong, also known as Mario in the Philippines, made landfall on September 19, 2014, over the northern tip of Cagayan Province in Luzon Island. The storm led to enhanced heavy rains, flooding low-lying areas including Metro Manila, and affecting multiple provinces. By September 24, the storm had claimed 16 lives and impacted 1.8 million people across 27 provinces.
