Disaster Overview : In May 2016, Tajikistan faced severe mudflows and floods that resulted in significant human and infrastructural impacts. The initial mudflows on May 9 caused fatalities and widespread damage across multiple districts. The most affected areas were Panjekent and Rudaki in Sughd Province, along with several other districts. With continuous rains exacerbating the situation, humanitarian needs escalated as thousands of households were affected and infrastructure, including bridges and homes, suffered extensive damage.
