Disaster Overview : On 17 and 18 August 2018, the Shirak region of Armenia was hit by a severe hailstorm that caused extensive damage to agricultural output. Almost all the yield capacity in the area was destroyed, affecting 11 communities and approximately 2,202 households (around 9,900 people). Over 780 hectares of agricultural land were impacted, with some households losing up to 100% of their yield.
