This seismic event, followed by several aftershocks, triggered a tsunami that severely affected multiple districts including Banyuwangi, Jember, Malang, Blitar, and Tulungagung. The disaster resulted in extensive loss of life and property, with the worst-hit area being Banyuwangi.
