Disaster Overview : Cameroon experienced severe flooding and landslides triggered by continuous heavy rains in July and October 2023. The South-West Region's Limbe city faced significant flood impacts on July 18-19, with about 1,600 people directly affected and numerous injuries and fatalities. Subsequently, heavy rains in Yaoundé on October 8-9 led to a landslide in the Mbankolo neighborhood, destroying homes and causing substantial loss of life.
