Disaster Overview : In April 1989, Sichuan province in China was struck by a devastating hailstorm. On April 20th, winds reaching speeds of 28 meters per second swept across the region, affecting multiple counties and cities including Fushun, Longchang, Yongchuan, Jinyan, and Gulin, as well as larger urban areas such as Chongqing, Leshan, Luzhou, and Neijiang.
