Disaster Overview : In late May 2012, central Cuba experienced severe flooding due to heavy rains. The deluge caused significant damage to the region, affecting both residential areas and agricultural land. An estimated one thousand homes were damaged or destroyed, and more than 3,300 hectares of farmland were submerged. The disaster also forced the evacuation of over 8,000 residents.
