Disaster Overview : Heavy rainfall beginning in June and continuing until July 23, 2016, caused widespread flooding across four of Burkina Faso's 13 regions. As of August 17, more than 27,000 people were affected, including those in the Centre region. The initial government response has been overwhelmed as the rains persisted, leading to increased casualties and significant disruptions.
