Disaster Overview : Tropical Storm Wukong (Quinta) made landfall over Leyte in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines on December 26, 2012. The storm subsequently weakened to a tropical depression. Despite its reduction in strength, Wukong caused significant damage, resulting in over 20 fatalities and affecting more than 240,000 individuals. The catastrophic impact led to the evacuation of thousands of residents, with nearly 60,000 seeking refuge in temporary shelters.
