Disaster Overview : In March 2014, a rapidly evolving outbreak of Ebola haemorrhagic fever started in Guinea. The outbreak quickly spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal, and Mali. By August 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) had declared it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) and launched major response plans. The outbreak saw a series of interventions and declarations of virus-free statuses, culminating in the WHO declaring the end of the most recent outbreak in Liberia in January 2016.
