Disaster Overview : In December 2014, severe flooding and landslides struck several parts of Malaysia due to heavy seasonal rains and strong winds. The East Coast states of Terengganu, Pahang, and Kelantan were the most severely impacted. Floods also affected the states of Perak, Johor, Selangor, and Perlis in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as the state of Sabah in East Malaysia. The continuous heavy rainfall, which reached record levels of 255 mm, forced the evacuation of over 230,000 individuals and led to the deaths of at least 17 people.
