Disaster Overview : In 2015, Pakistan faced a series of devastating floods triggered by unseasonably early rainfall and heavy monsoon rains. Starting in late February, the country experienced a range of severe weather events, including a destructive storm in northwest Pakistan and multiple flash floods. The flooding was further exacerbated by rapid snow melting and glacial lake outbursts, leading to the inundation of many areas. The most severely impacted was the Chitral District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, affecting an estimated 285,000 people. Immediate response efforts were undertaken by the Pakistan Army and various governmental authorities.
