Disaster Overview : Hurricane Dorian, one of the most powerful tropical cyclones on record, swept across the Caribbean and the Bahamas in late August and early September 2019. Starting as a tropical storm, Dorian intensified into a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds reaching up to 295 km/h. The storm caused catastrophic damage, especially to the Abaco islands and Grand Bahama, leading to massive flooding, power outages, and severe destruction of property.
