Disaster Overview : Sri Lanka has experienced severe weather conditions including heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning since May 10, 2024, leading to catastrophic floods and landslides. The Southwest Monsoon has significantly impacted various provinces, causing extensive damage and loss of life. Several provinces, including Sabaragamuwa, Northern, Western, Southern, North Western, Central, North Central, Uva, and Eastern, have reported fatalities, injuries, damaged houses, and displaced people. As of June 12, 2024, 37 fatalities and over 235,854 affected people have been reported across 23 districts.
