Disaster Overview : In late May 2024, Tropical Cyclone Remal formed over the Bay of Bengal and made landfall near the Bangladesh-India border. The cyclone brought severe weather including wind speeds of up to 135 kmph, tidal surges, and heavy rainfall. The most affected areas included the Indian states of Mizoram, West Bengal, Assam, and Meghalaya, as well as several coastal districts in Bangladesh. Over 4.6 million people were impacted, with significant displacement, property damage, and loss of lives reported.
